Review
Atari KartsSTORY / GAMEPLAY
This is a go-kart racing game so there's no actual story. Atari Karts features four different difficulty levels, each with 3 cups to race for. Handling and drifting your kart is quite tricky, depending on the terrain you race (snowy, muddy etc). After completing all cups for each difficulty level you challenge a "top" racer in a single race. There are items around each racing track to gather and knock out your (tough) opponents.

GRAPHICS / SOUND
Atari Karts features colorful backgrounds and racing environments as well as a "hill effect" that gives the impression of "depth" on each track. The animation is flawless with no slowdowns even if the screen is crowded by racers. Overall, Atari Karts looks technically superior to the Mario Kart series and it's great fun to play. The sound is equally good and I liked the music a lot! Note that Atari Karts' music was composed on a Commodore Amiga (!) by Fabrice Gillet, using Protracker software(!)
