Blazing Lasers (aka Gunhed in Japan) is a great, arcade quality, vertical-scrolling shooter praised for bringing the PC Engine/SuperGrafx 16 hardware to its limits!

Review
Blazing LazersSTORY / GAMEPLAY
You are a pilot and your mission is to destroy the Dark Squadron and its eight different Super Weapons. The game takes you through nine (9) levels/areas and each area contains one or more bosses, all of which must be destroyed before proceeding further in the game. (A typical shoot 'em up scenario!) Your spaceship features a rapid-fire main laser cannon, which can either be upgraded or transformed into other types of weapons by collecting various power-ups (shown with Latin numbers). You may also collect optional power-ups to help fight through the game such as "multi-bodies" that shadow their actions, homing missiles, shields and enhanced firing capabilities named "full fire". You must never forget your limited supply of cluster bombs! To be honest, this game reminds me of the great shoot 'em up "Wings of Death" on the 16bit Amiga and Atari ST home computers! And it's equally amusing and fun to play!

GRAPHICS / SOUND
Graphically, Blazing Lazers is a candy to the eye! It features a nice selection of colors and multi-layer parallax scrolling with lots of enemy sprites on screen at once! One thing is for sure; this game will impress you, by showcasing the GPU prowess of the PC-Engine. The animations are smooth, without a single slowdown issue and give an arcade quality feel to the whole experience. In terms of sound, the game uses pretty nice in-game tunes and stereophonic sound FX. Blazing Lazers is a greatly done shoot 'em up that will bring the arcades into your home!
