STORY / GAMEPLAY God Of War is based on the ancient Greek mythology and follows the adventures of Kratos, a large and strong captain of the great Spartan army, who killed himself falling from a rock into the Aegean Sea. The game takes us through a fantastic plot split into flashbacks from Kratos' life. The hero's main quest is to locate and kill Ares the God Of War who released an evil army to attack Athens (the sacred city protected by goddess Athena). The quest is pretty tough since you have to fight against other Gods, Titans, and a variety of monsters known from the Ancient Greek Mythology such as The Hydra, plus numerous hordes of mortal Warriors. Apart from slashing your way through, you have to solve puzzles and unveil mysteries to go further. The good news is that your weapons can be upgraded by using the powers of the Gods, with each and every power sporting its own cons and pros. The gameplay is intense with bloody fights and gorgeous presentation! GRAPHICS / SOUND The game's visuals are, in one word, outstanding with thousands of colors and represent the ancient Greek mythology in such detail that nobody believes a PS2 would ever manage to achieve. The animation is so smooth no matter the number of foes swarming the screen and the camera perspectives change with zoom-ins and outs, making the game more intriguing and more challenging. The music, composed by a team of great artists like Gerard K. Marino, is at least epic and very strong and the sound effects used -plus the voice acting- are simply superb. The game's sound supports DTS and it is recommended to have a decent sound system to enjoy all of its glory. God Of War is a fantastic game that no PS2 owner should ever miss! | |
