Gunstar Heroes is an action platform game developed in 1993 by Sega, for the Megadrive and the Game Gear consoles. A later version for the more advanced Sega Saturn offered a multiplayer (multi-tap) mode. In 2005, Treasure and Sega released Gunstar Super Heroes, a Gunstar spin-off for the Game Boy Advance.

Gunstar HeroesSTORY / GAMEPLAY
The game's story takes place on Planet Gunstar 9 where total chaos incurs! A crazy colonel has found 4 magic crystals that hold an alien being inside them, called "Golden Silver". The madman aims to make this alien being his ultimate weapon to destroy the small planet and kill its inhabitants. And yes you guessed right; you are called to save the planet. You have the option to choose between two different heroes the Red and the Blue and shoot your way through to end mad colonel's plans for good.Your weaponry consists of four different weapons. The unique feature in this game is that you can combine the weapons in pairs and create 10 more nice weapons at your disposal! The enemies are attacking you from all 8 directions and apart from shooting them you can also engage in a close quarters combat (e.g. by grabbing and tossing them away). There are several platforms to jump or slide into. At the end of each level there is a big (huge actually) boss to encounter! Well, Gunstar Heroes is a good action shooter but for some reason it didn’t manage to become an AAA Megadrive title. It is fun to play though, offering some intense action!

GRAPHICS / SOUND
The graphics are colorful with smooth sprite animation and very fast action. Multiple sprites move around the screen with no hardware slowdowns at all. The sound features some nice FX and some fun music scores that fit nicely to the game's intense style!
